The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence has commended the former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the incumbent governor of the state, Sheriff Oborevwori, for what it called a landmark decision to exit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), alongside House of Assembly members, local government chairmen, party leaders, and supporters.
Speaking Tuesday in Abuja, the group urged Arewa governors, who are still undecided, to rise above partisanship and focus on national interest by immediately embracing the vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Coordinator, Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence, Mark Okpanachi Ogah, who addressed the press in the company of the National President, Bature Haruna, also called on the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, to realign with his political mentor and FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, in the spirit of political wisdom and foresight.
Okpanachi noted that political legacy is best preserved through loyalty, dialogue, and unity of purpose.
“Wike’s instrumental role in Governor Fubara’s emergence cannot be ignored by any honest account of recent political history. It is therefore both strategic and noble for Governor Fubara to embrace reconciliation and forge a united front for the peace and progress of Rivers State and the nation at large.”
On the massive defection of the Delta State PDP to APC, Okpanachi described the development as a homecoming that was beyond a political realignment.
“It is a strategic and symbolic endorsement of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Your decision reflects a deep commitment to national progress, unity, and a shared desire to reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable development. We welcome you wholeheartedly into the progressive family. Delta is home, and together, we will build a better future for our great nation.”
The group also urged other states in the South-South, particularly the Governors of Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa States, “to follow this noble path. Your acknowledgment of Mr. President’s performance is appreciated; now is the time to fully align with his transformational vision by joining the progressive family.”
Adding, “In the same spirit, we extend this appeal to the Governors of Oyo and Osun States. As kinsmen of President Tinubu, it is only fitting to support his developmental strides directly by aligning with his political direction. Likewise, we urge the Governors of Enugu and Abia to consider the greater good and come on board the Renewed Hope train.”
“We want to use this medium to commend the chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, for his leadership role since assuming office. One of the sagacious and assertive leadership qualities of the National Chairman is his propensity for election victory.
“For example, under his leadership, APC has won four out of the five off-season elections in the country. This achievement underscores the strategic acumen and organizational discipline of his. Again, his continued loyalty to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu is commendable. This character has endeared the Party to most of the opposition parties, as could be seen in the current season of decamping to the APC across the country. This is the first of its kind,” he said.
The group equally claimed that the removal of the fuel subsidy has saved the country trillions of naira and redirected funds to infrastructure.
Other achievements of President Tinubu’s government, Okpanachi listed, include the unification of the forex market, boosting investor confidence, massive road, rail, and coastal highway projects, including the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
Others, he said, are security interventions with improved intelligence and military hardware, youth empowerment programs and digital skills training, implementation of student loans for tertiary education, and social investment initiatives targeting vulnerable Nigerians.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding results, and with unity across states and political leaders, we can fast-track Nigeria’s journey to greatness,” Okpanachi added.
