“Ghana's Black Stars better than Super Eagles“ - Fireboy

Afrobeats sensation Fireboy DML has weighed in on the long-standing debate between Ghana’s Black Stars and Nigeria’s Super Eagles, stating that, in his view, the Black Stars are the superior team despite Nigeria’s wealth of individual talent.

Speaking on the 90s Baby Show podcast, Fireboy explained that the strength of Ghana’s team lies in their cohesion and ability to play as a unit, while the Super Eagles often struggle to translate their individual brilliance into a well-rounded team performance.

The singer also pointed out the disparity in midfield capabilities, specifically highlighting Thomas Partey’s stellar performance against Real Madrid during Arsenal’s Champions League match. Fireboy noted that Nigeria currently lacks a midfielder with the same level of influence and skill as Partey.

He said, “Right now, Ghana is a better team [than Nigeria’s Super Eagles]. Individually, we [Nigerians] are better. But as a team, Ghana is better.

“For some reason, we have not been able to combine the brilliance of each player to form a solid team. I think it will take time. We have a lot of talents but we have not been able to utilise them.

“Unlike Ghana, we don’t have a good midfield. Thomas Partey alone, we don’t have a midfield to battle that. You saw how Partey handled Real Madrid during their Champions League clash with Arsenal. We don’t have that.”
