Nollywood star Freddie Leonard is standing firm against the rising tide of online insults and disrespect, particularly among younger internet users.

Recently accused of being a bully himself, Leonard took to Instagram to express his frustration with the growing lack of courtesy on social media. He voiced particular concern over how some individuals, especially the youth, hurl insults at older people under the guise of expressing opinions.

In a candid video posted on his page, the actor shared a recent incident that pushed him to speak out. While scrolling through social media, he came across a thread where people were engaging in a discussion. Curious, he decided to look through the comments section — something he usually avoids.

Leonard explained that he typically steers clear of online comments because, in his words, “people who have sense are not on social media.” However, one particular comment caught his attention and prompted a reaction.

He described how a young woman began her comment by insulting another user, referring to someone old enough to be her father as an “ageing fool.” Leonard found the remark deeply offensive and unnecessary, criticizing the manner in which some people choose to communicate online.

He explained:

I was just going through social, and someone had put up a post sharing their opinion. I went through the comment section, which I usually don’t do because I believe people who have sense are not on social media.

I saw this lady who wanted to make a point, but she began by insulting someone, calling the person an ageing fool. That was how she started. I clicked her profile and saw she was following me… and I blocked her immediately.”

Freddie didn’t mince words as he revealed he’s currently in his “blocked zone,” warning that anyone who crosses the line, whether on his post or elsewhere, will be dealt with accordingly.
