Fans Criticize ’The Kardashians’ Season 6 Finale For Lack Of Footage

Another eventful season of The Kardashians has finally come to a close. Season 6 of the reality TV show aired the finale this week, and it wasn’t without its drama.

As usual, each of the family members was off on their own adventure, spread across the globe for various engagements. One thing that fans did notice, however, is that footage of what should have been important moments for the reality TV stars was missing—and that producers took to flimsy social media content to fill the gaps.

Kylie’s Runway Show Was Missing From The Finale

One of the biggest moments of the Season 6 finale was Kylie walking in her very first fashion show. She’d been invited to walk in Coperni’s runway show in Paris, making it a major first for the reality star. While at first she was hesitant to accept the opportunity, her older sister (and professional supermodel) Kendall encouraged her to go for it.

In a scene with the two sisters, they sit side by side on the couch while Kendall assures her that walking in a fashion show isn’t as “scary” as one might think. She assured Kylie that the Coperni show would suit her vibe, and that once she got started down the runway, she’d be totally fine. Eventually, Kylie accepted the invitation, jetting off to Europe for the big event.

That said, when it came time for Kylie to walk in the show, it seems like the producers’ cameras turned off. That is, there was no coverage of Kylie walking in Coperni’s show, even though the episode builds up anticipation for such a big first in her life. Fans who tuned into the season were left sorely disappointed, and some took to a Reddit thread about the show to discuss the lack of footage.

Instead, it appears that producers of the show took to Kylie’s social media content to fill in the gaps. Disappointed fans commented on how much of a letdown this was:

we speed runned [sic] that kylie and kendall Paris venture, like kylie didn’t even film her part and just used instagram clips 😭

As the commented noted, part of Kendall’s own trip to Paris (for a separate show for the brand L’Oréal) was also conspicuously missing from the included footage in the final episode. The user wasn’t alone in their disappointment—others also expressed how the content in the finale felt thin in general, lacking any true drama and making for a bit of a snoozer to bring Season 6 to a close.

“What is the point of a ten episode season,” one person mused. “Crazy how the finale was the worst episode of the season 😭😭,” another added.

The women try to hack it in the wild.

While it’s possible that cameras weren’t allowed near the fashion show, the producers behind the show haven’t mentioned a reason for why the coverage in the last episode was so lacking. Sharp-eyed fans noted that, while we get scenes of Kylie preparing for her runway show, when it actually came time for the event, we quickly cut away to, of all things, Kylie’s social media.

Indeed, the gaps for the fashion show were filled with TikToks that Kylie had filmed in selfie mode, grainy footage that stuck out in comparison to the rest of the episode. In the clips, Kylie shows off her outfit and addresses her fans. Users in the aforementioned Reddit thread noted that the use of the TikTok clips made it feel like those responsible for creating the show were “running out” of content by this point in the season:

Playing Kylie’s TikTok videos like we could just watch this on TikTok 😭they running [sic] out of things to fill these episodes with

Some were even more critical in their comments, saying that if the show was going to be so lacking in drama that it should end altogether. Still others noted that the older version of the show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, which predates the Hulu reboot, simply titled The Kardashians, would have had more excitement.

“DID THEY USE KYLIE’S TIKTOK AS A SCENE FOR THE SHOW?!?! 💀💀 PACK THIS SHOW UP AND KICK KYLIE OFF ASAP! WTF. This is💩!!!!. KUWTK would never do this. Wtf. They share nothing new. This show is just a way for them to control the narrative and say whatever they want,” one scathing comment read.

The Kardashians Season 6 Episode 8 Recap: Legally Kim

Kim heads to a firefighting concentration camp to learn more about prison reform.

Indeed, the season doesn’t end with a bang so much as a quiet whisper. In the final scenes of the last episode, the family gathers together to celebrate Kim’s 44th birthday, a simple dinner affair during which Kris gives one of her usual speeches about how grateful she is to have her family members altogether. There was only a slight irony in the fact that Kylie wasn’t able to be present at the party due to scheduling issues.

Despite fans’ complaints about episodes being padded, this likely isn’t the last we’ll see of the family’s reality TV show. For one thing, the future of Kim’s love life is teased as being something that fans will have to tune into Season 7 to learn more about. Another topic that remains largely unaddressed is what Khloé’s future relationship with her ex-husband Lamar will look like.

As of now, the network and the producers behind the show have not announced a pickup of Season 7 of the show, but no doubt this isn’t the last we’ll see of the reality TV royalty. For now, all past season of The Kardashians are available to stream now on Hulu.
