EFCC Apprehends 47 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Edo

According to a statement on the anti-graft agency’s X handle, on Tuesday, April 15, the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

Operatives of the Benin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have apprehended 47 suspected internet fraudsters in multiple raids across Benin City, Edo State.

According to a statement on the anti-graft agency’s X handle, on Tuesday, April 15, the suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

Upon arrest, five exotic cars, smartphones and laptop computers were recovered from the suspect.

The statement reads: “Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 arrested 47 suspected internet fraudsters at different locations in Benin City, Edo State.

“The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that linked them to fraudulent internet activities.

“Items recovered from them at the point of arrest included five exotic cars, smartphones and laptop computers.

“They would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”
