Workers of the National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been thrown into a state of mourning following the news of the murder of its Director of Administration, Dr. Abdulraif Adekunle Adeniji, by kidnappers, who reportedly abducted him on January 26 this year.
The kidnappers went ahead to murder him after collecting N90 million as ransom. The late Adeniji was abducted alongside his brother and wife, who were immediately shot dead due to her inability to keep pace with them, while on their way to an unknown destination.
APC’s Deputy Director of Administration, Ubagha Abel, in a terse statement, disclosed that the party secretariat would remain closed till Monday as a result of the unfortunate development.
The statement reads: “The National Secretary has approved the closure of the National Secretariat from all party/work activities with immediate effect till Monday, 14th of April, 2025.
“The decision was made after he had received the news of the sad demise of the Director of Administration, late Hon. Abdulraif Adekunle Adeniji, PhD”.
“You are advised to use the mourning period for sober reflection and prayers for the family and loved ones. May the soul of our beloved director rest in peace, Amen.”
All flags at the party Secretariat are to fly at half mast throughout mourning, he added. The kidnappers were said to have concealed the news of his killing even while still negotiating for payment of a N50 million ransom.
