APC mourns senior staff killed by kidnappers after N50 million ransom payment

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is in mourning mood following the tragic death of its Director of Administration, Dr. Adekunle Raif Adeniji, who was killed by his abductors despite the payment of a ransom.

Dr. Adeniji was kidnapped in February 2025 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

His captors initially demanded a ransom of ₦350 million for his release. According to reports, negotiations led to a reduced payment of ₦50 million.

Tragically, despite fulfilling the ransom demand, Dr. Adeniji was killed by his abductors.

Born on September 20, 1959, in Ife Central Local Government Area of Osun State, Dr. Adeniji was a devout Muslim, a dedicated family man, and a seasoned public servant.

He previously served as Assistant Registrar at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, and was elected Chairman of Ife Local Government Council under the APC platform.

In August 2024, he was appointed as the Director of Administration at the APC National Secretariat, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the party’s headquarters.

Described as a grassroots politician and tireless mobilizer, Dr. Adeniji played a pivotal role in the growth and consolidation of the APC, particularly in Osun State and at the national level. His contributions were instrumental in several of the party’s electoral victories.

In honour of his memory, the APC National Secretariat has been closed and will reopen on Monday, April 14, 2025. A condolence register has also been opened at the Secretariat.
