Adam22 has revealed that he’s had to layoff several members of his team as his No Jumper podcast has run out of money.
No Jumper, once one of the most popular hip-hop podcasts, has suffered from low ratings, in-house brawls, lawsuits and, more recently, several federal arrests.
“First we lost the No Jumper Instagram. After almost 10 years of building it up and essentially no strikes on our account, we got taken down one day, and we still have absolutely no idea why,” Adam22 says in the clip below.
Not only is Adam planning to lay off more staff, but he will also downsize their current workspace to save on overhead costs.
“To be honest, aside from the layoffs, I’m pretty happy about all those changes. I’ve realized that I should have paid more attention to DJ Vlad and kept my overhead as low as possible, particularly in terms of staff and location,” he added. “I’m confident that once we get the building sold, we will be in a pretty solid financial position again as a business.”
No Jumper was initially established as a Tumblr blog in 2011 by George Potter, and at the time, it focused on underground hip-hop artists and mixtape reviews. It was revived in 2015 as a podcast hosted on YouTube, shifting its focus to interviews with both underground and mainstream rap artists, and more recently, local gang members.
