50-year-old Man Arraigned Over Alleged Unlawful Cattle Grazing

Court

A 50-year-old man, Ladan Abubakar, has been arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court by the Ekiti State Police, over allegations of unlawful cattle grazing.

The defendant, who has no fixed address, is facing a one-count charge related to grazing his cattle in an unauthorised location. According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, the offence was committed on April 1 at about 7:30 a.m. in Ewu-Ekiti.

Oriyomi told the court that Abubakar unlawfully allowed his cattle to graze in a restricted area, an action that contravenes Section 2 and is punishable under Section 7 of the Prohibition of Cattle and Other Ruminants Grazing Law of Ekiti State.

The prosecutor requested an adjournment to allow time to review the case file and gather his witnesses. The magistrate’s decision on the bail application and future hearing date was pending as of the time of filing this report.
