2026 guber poll: Ex-lawmakers endorse NIWA boss as Osun APC candidate

Former legislators in the state and national assemblies under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State have unanimously endorsed the candidature of Bola Oyebamiji as the party’s candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.

Oyebamiji is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Inland Waterways Authority.

The former lawmakers, numbering over 50 members across the 26 State Constituencies, 9 Federal Constituencies, and 3 Senatorial Districts in the state, threw their weight behind the Ikire-born technocrat and politician.

The former legislators disclosed their support for Oyebamiji at interactive sessions with him at the Ilerioluwa Campaign Office, Osogbo.

Speaking intermittently, the former members of the parliament affirmed their unflinching support for the gubernatorial aspirant.

They described Oyebamiji as a round peg in a round hole, in whom they are pleased to run for the coveted position come 2026.

The immediate past speaker, Timothy Owoeye, stated the lawmakers’ readiness and determination to work vigorously for the actualisation of Oyebamiji’s ambition in the next governorship election.

According to him, the lawmakers are irrevocably committed to the AMBO movement and ready to rally support for him before, during, and after the gubernatorial election.

The meetings had in attendance former lawmakers from the 1st Assembly to the 7th Assembly in the state, as well as former National Assembly lawmakers.
