Former Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Shay was the first person to be eliminated from her group on “Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods” night in Season 13 of The Masked Singer. Scheana fooled all the judges when she was revealed to be under The Bat mask after her rendition of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.”
Viewers who have watched Scheana since Season 1 of VPR all know that her side hustle was to become a pop star. She would sing her hit single “Good as Gold” during Pride parades and even at SUR restaurant. In fact, the reality TV star has recently remixed her single into a screamo version with the help of the band, The 27s, proving that her career as a singer wasn’t going anywhere.
However, in an interview after she was unmasked on the Fox show, Scheana admitted that she “never” had dreams of being a pop singer. Did we hear that right?

Scheana Shay Released Several Songs When She Appeared On Vanderpump Rules
Scheana Shay totally surprised fans when she appeared in the Bat costume on Season 13 of The Masked Singer. However, fans were left in total shock during the post-reveal interview with People when she admitted that being a pop star was something she never saw herself doing.
When asked if she was “disappointed” by being the first person unmasked by her group, she gave a very interesting answer.
“I didn’t want to come on at all, if I’m being honest. When I got the call, I was like, “Nope, nope, absolutely not. I am not doing that.” After being on Vanderpump Rules and people making fun of me for doing music when I’m like, I’ve never wanted to be a pop star. It was just always something as a fun side hobby.” she honestly answered.
During her short stint of The Masked Singer, Scheana’s clues included: “Like bats, I’m one of the most misunderstood creatures ever. I’ve been forever villainized, constantly portrayed as a blood-sucking backstabber.”
Another major clue teased her “Good as Gold” single. “My real friends know I actually have a heart of gold,” she teased. “I’ve just been surrounded by a bunch of lunatics and for years all my words have been twisted upside down. I’m just out here partying and having the time of my life.”
According to Scheana, because she’s received more hate than love for her music, she told the outlet that she did not want to get “made fun of for singing on national television.” However, she was ultimately happy that she took part in the beloved Fox series.
“I’m glad I got that push that I needed because I would’ve missed out on an incredible opportunity. That is something that I want my daughter to grow up and do, to not be afraid of the unknown and to take chances.”
Scheana’s rendition of “Espresso” proved that the reality TV star had singing chops. In fact, those who watched Scheana on Vanderpump Rules were well aware of her aspirations to be the next Britney Spears.
In Season 1 of VPR, Scheana took the stage at The Roxy to sing her song “What I Like,” with the help of Ariana Madix as her backup dancer.
In nearly each and every season of VPR, viewers watched her continue a career in music. In Season 2, she famously got up on a bar to sing what would become her hit song, “Good as Gold.” And, that wouldn’t be the only time she would sing the song, having sung it during Pride parades and at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant. In Season 8, she released her song, “One More Time,” with her enlisting her SUR co-star Brett Caprioi in her racy music video.
By Season 10, Scheana was still releasing songs. This time, she teamed up with The 27s for “Apples,” which was a diss track towards Rachel “Raquel” Leviss after her affair with Tom Sandoval.
So, hearing that Scheana “never wanted to be a pop star” was kind of a blow to her fans.

Scheana Had Been Adamant About Wanting To Compete On Dancing With The Stars
Scheana was hesitant to perform on The Masked Singer, as she told People that it was her first time being on a competition series. However, as the show is all about hiding your identity under a mask, it was less intimidating for the reality star.
“I’m like, ‘Wait, how many viewers do we have?’ It’s a lot. It’s more than VPR. So that was a little intimidating, but also, I’m in a mask, and if people want to say whatever they do, I’m used to that. I had fun,'” she said.
Scheana was born on May 7, 1985.
While Scheana took part in her first-ever competition reality show, it’s been known that she’s always wanted to be a contestant on Dancing With the Stars. During Season 11 of Vanderpump Rules, Scheana admitted while speaking to Lisa that it was like getting “punched in the gut” when her pal, Ariana Madix, was confirmed to be on Season 32 of the reality dance competition series.
“This year I started taking dance class, I was preparing in case, you know, I did get it,” she tells her former boss. Ariana ended up placing third with her professional partner Pasha Pashkov.

Scheana Shay Wants To Be On The Traitors
Scheana Admitted That She Is No Longer Interested In DWTS
In a January episode of her Scheananigans with Scheana Shay podcast, Scheana revealed that she was totally over being a part of DWTS. Instead, she expressed interest in being on The Traitors. “Traitors is my new Dancing With the Stars,” Scheana admitted.
“I genuinely don’t want to do Dancing With the Stars anymore, I don’t. I feel like that time has come and passed.”
She continued, “You know, like I’ve wanted a Range Rover for so many years and now I’m like, it’s kind of come and passed. Now Traitors is the new dream, genuinely. Yeah, like that wouldn’t even be a question. I would do Traitors.”
If Scheana does get the invite to take part in Season 4 of The Traitors, she would be the second VPR star to do so. Season 3 saw Tom Sandoval get far in the series, but he ended up getting murdered by Traitors Danielle Reyes and Britney Haynes, who was recruited to be a Traitor by the former in Episode 10.
However, it doesn’t appear that Scheana would be calling up her former co-star for any advice if she was asked to join the show. In her People interview, when asked if she communicated with any of her former cast mates, the only people she called her friends including Lala Kent and Tom Schwartz.
