The Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has raised an alarm over a fake student loan portal circulating online. The fraudulent message claims that the NELFUND Student Loan registration portal is open, providing a misleading application link.
In a statement, NELFUND urged students to be cautious of such scams. She emphasized that the only official website for NELFUND student loan applications and updates is available online and it’s known to all
Students are advised to verify information. They should only visit NELFUND’s official website and verified social media handles for accurate information.They should also Disregard any unauthorized links or messages requesting personal information or promising loan disbursement outside the official NELFUND platform.
The statement signed by Director, Strategic Communications NELFUND, Mrs Oseyemi Oluwatuyi on Wednesday, advised students to only visit it’s official website and verified social media handles to get accurate information.
The statement partly reads: “We categorically disassociate NELFUND from this false information and urge students to be cautious of such scams. The only official website for NELFUND student loan applications and updates is www.nelf.gov.ng.
Students and the general public should disregard any unauthorized links or messages requesting personal information or promising loan disbursement outside the official NELFUND platform. ”
