- Naira Marley has requested a court investigation into Omowunmi, the wife of late singer Mohbad, and about 14 others present at his residence shortly before his death.
- The request was made during a virtual testimony at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Popular musician Naira Marley has called on the court to investigate Omowunmi, the wife of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, along with approximately 14 others who were at the singer’s residence 48 to 72 hours before his passing.
In a statement shared with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, Naira Marley’s legal representative, Olusola Okuwobi, revealed that the singer made this request during a virtual testimony before Ms. T.A. Shotobi at the Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Friday.
During the session, Naira Marley reportedly stated that he was not in the country when Mohbad passed away. He also emphasized that he bore no ill will toward the late singer.
The statement read, “Azeez Adeshina Fashola aka Naira Marley testified before the court virtually giving his precise and succinct testimony. Naira Marley testified that at the time of Mohbad’s unfortunate de.ath, he was out of the country.
“He further stated that he had no animosity towards Mohbad before his death, he related the status of the contract that subsisted between his good self and the deceased. Naira Marley urged the coroner to look away from the suspects presented by the police and social media and look into interrogating Omowunmi and the 14 others who were present at the house 48-72 hours before the unfortunate passing of the singer.”
Okuwobi mentioned that Naira Marley claimed that those who were with the deceased in their last moments were trying to avoid accountability by sharing an old video.
He pointed out that they knew the deceased had already apologized for the video and had been forgiven before departing from the record label.
