The State Executive Council (SEC) of the Imo State chapter of the Labour Party (LP), presided over by the state chairman, Callistus Ihejiagwa, a lawyer, at the weekend suspended the State Secretary of the party, Paulinus Ugochukwu, an engineer, and 12 other members of the party.
Briefing journalists after the meeting held at the state headquarters of the party on Okigwe Road, Owerri, Ihejiagwa listed others suspended as Ikechukwu Osuaku, Emeka Ihejirika, a lawyer; Innocent NwaDavid, Sunday Ike, Dr. Chris Uzowuru, Mrs. Adanma Nwauka, Jude Enwereuzor, and Amarachi Anyanwu.
Others are Emma Ihemadu, an engineer; Chief Joseph A. Mbama, Bright Ofuru, and Chief Charles Uzomba, accusing them of creating crises where there are none.
Consequently, a five-member disciplinary committee chaired by the 1st deputy chairman of the party, Dr. Queen Osuala, was raised to look into the allegations of misconduct, including insubordination, indiscipline, false information, false publicity, disobedience, disregard for the party constitution, dragging the party and its leadership into disrepute, and not following party due process or channels to ventilate grievances against the suspended members.

The state chairman also listed other members of the disciplinary panel as Engr. Kelechi Ucheghara, Vice Chairman; Casmir Okorie, Secretary; with Ifeanyi Aguocha and Chijioke Osimiri as members. They were given three months to complete their assignment.
In the same vein, the SEC passed a vote of confidence on the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure, his secretary, the Imo State chairman of the party, Ihejiagwa, and the party executive, stressing that there was no crisis.
Also, they passed a vote of no confidence on Governor Hope Uzodimma and his administration, maintaining that there was “serious hunger and suffering in Imo State.” The council also urged the governor to return to Imo State and embark on full governance.
