Taxstone is facing up to 10 more years in prison after being charged with conspiracy to smuggle contraband into MDC-Brooklyn.
Taxstone, real name Daryl Campbell, has been charged alongside four other inmates—Ian Diez, Jonathan Guerrero, Abel Mora, and Mayovanex Rodriguez—and the feds say they have the evidence to support their claims, including phone recordings.
“As alleged, between April and June 2024, Campbell used a contraband cell phone to conspire with others to smuggle contraband into MDC-Brooklyn,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement. “In several voice recordings found on the phone, Campbell explained his method of throwing a ‘line’ out of a window of MDC-Brooklyn for a co-conspirator on the outside to ‘hook” or attach contraband, which could then be pulled back inside.”
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
Taxstone was found guilty in connection with the 2016 shooting death of Troy Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. Banga was shot dead at a Manhattan concert venue, Irving Plaza, just before rapper T.I. was scheduled to perform. Taxstone was convicted on manslaughter, assault and weapon possession charges and sentenced to 35 years.
