Emergency Rule: ‘We’re Worried About Fubara’s Whereabouts ’ —  Niger Delta Leader

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and the state’s House of Assembly in a national broadcast over the escalating political crisis in the state.

Anabs Sara-Igbe

Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, the Niger Delta activist, has said that the people of Rivers State are worried about the whereabouts of Siminalayi Fubara following his suspension as governor of the state.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara, his deputy, Mrs Ngozi Odu and the state’s House of Assembly in a national broadcast over the escalating political crisis in the state.

Following the president’s declaration, the suspended governor, his family, and security details vacated the Rivers Government House.

However, Sara-Igbe, while speaking on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Thursday, March 20, 2025, claimed that nobody has seen or heard from Fubara.

He said Fubara’s life is in danger, adding that Rivers leaders have been trying to reach out to him but could not get him.

“We have not seen Fubara, and nobody has communicated with Fubara. We don’t know what they have done to Fubara; we don’t know where Fubara is. So, Fubara’s life is in danger; we have tried to reach him, but we cannot reach him. All Nigerians need to know that Fubara’s life is in danger. Until we see Fubara speak face-to-face or on television, we have not seen him.

“We have not heard from him. With all sincerity, ask anybody whether they have heard from him. He was locked up in the government house, we only see him on social media, he has been released from the government house, to where? we don’t know. Rivers people are worried; this is a war against Rivers State not a war against Fubara,” he said.

Sara-Igbe called on Nigerians to protest against “the illegal suspension” of Fubara, saying, “If Nigerians keep quiet and allow this to happen, it will happen in other places.”
