Declare your re-election bid or face statewide protests – Anambra students warn Soludo

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council, Anambra State, has issued a 30-day ultimatum to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to declare his re-election bid ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election or face statewide protests.

Speaking at a press briefing in Awka on Thursday, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Okoye Matthew Okpara, announced that the student body is prepared to purchase Soludo’s nomination form in recognition of his leadership and student-focused policies.

Okpara, who also serves as the National Coordinator of the Solution Students Movement of Nigeria, declared that Soludo’s transformational policies, including the “One Youth, Two Skills” program, have directly benefited students across the state.

However, he warned that failure to declare his intention within 30 days would prompt massive demonstrations across the state.

“The election is just nine months away, yet the governor has not declared his intention. We, the students of Anambra under NANS and the Solution Students Movement, are prepared to purchase his nomination forms. If he fails to declare his ambition, we will take to the streets,” Okpara stated.

He, however, clarified that the planned protest would be peaceful and non-destructive, aimed solely at pressuring the governor to formally announce his candidacy.
