Bachelor In Paradise Sees A Twist That Fans Aren't Happy About

Bachelor in Paradise is finally returning after taking a break in 2024. Fans believed that The Bachelor spinoff was canceled after Season 9 resulted in no happy couples after leaving Mexico. However, in July 2024, ABC announced that the beloved reality TV show was returning with filming beginning this summer.

During Season 29’s The Bachelor finale, where Grant Ellis proposed to Juliana Pasquarosa, host Jesse Palmer announced during the After the Final Rose that BiP would see major changes. Season 10 will not only see former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants on the beach, but will also include contestants from both The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.

It’s a major twist that has left fans stunned, with many expressing uncertainty about how the show will play out. Will people aged 60 and over mingle with those in their 20s and 30s?

Bachelor In Paradise Season 10 Has An Unexpected Twist Fans Aren’t Too Sure About

BiP Will Welcome Golden Bachelor/Bachelorette Contestants To The Beach

On Season 29’s After the Final Rose special, host Jesse Palmer detailed what’s to come for the upcoming Season 10 of Bachelor in Paradise. There is a lot of excitement for the upcoming season as the spinoff took a break last year. However, Jesse revealed that there will be a twist like never before on the show.

“So this is really happening. For the first time ever, Golden men and women will be hitting the beaches of Paradise alongside all of your Bachelor and Bachelorette favorites of seasons past,” he explained on the After the Final Rose special.

Jesse gave no further explanation about how the much older contestants of the Golden spinoffs will intermingle with a much younger crowd this summer. “So how is this whole thing going to work? You’re going to have to tune in to find out when an all-new Bachelor in Paradise premieres this summer,” he added.

Fans have since admitted to not being happy about the new twist. When ABC announced the news that Golden contestants would join former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants on Instagram, the comment section was flooded with unhappy fans.

  • “[R]respectfully no one asked for this.”
  • “I’m gonna hold your hand when I say this, no one wants to watch 70 year old men hit on 25 year olds. It’s weird🧍🏻‍♀️.”
  • “I like both franchises of the show but I don’t think I like them mixing, it’s kinda weird”
  • “Hey so I don’t think we mind a Golden BIP but they definitely deserve their own season and not a combined season with contestants young enough to be their grand children 🙁.”

As of this writing, it’s not exactly known how this twist will work. It’s possible that the show may just divide the Golden contestants and the Bachelor contestants into separate beaches.

Fan Favorites Leslie Fhima And Gary Levingston Will Be “Dancing In The Sand”

On After The Final Rose, Jesse introduced two of the Golden contestants who will be joining the new season of Bachelor in Paradise. Fan-favorites Gary Levingston from The Golden Bachelorette and Leslie Fhima from The Golden Bachelor joined Jesse on stage.

Leslie is a 65-year-old fitness instructor who was one of Gerry Turner’s final two women. He ultimately chose Theresa Nist and the two had a televised wedding in January 2024. However, just three months later, the pair announced their separation. Meanwhile, Leslie will get a second chance at love.

“The beach is my thing, so I’m very excited. And I’m so excited to be with my old friends, make new friends and just maybe find love. I am most excited to continue my journey — I think this is my forte: the beach and my friends.”

As for Gary, he did not make it far during Joan Vassos’ journey on The Golden Bachelorette. However, he became one of the most memorable contestants on the show. During his appearance on After the Final Rose, he shared:

“A lot of dancing in the sand,” he said. “But more so than that, laying out in the sun and just enjoying the moment and looking for love in all the right places.”

Although fans are uncertain how these two will mingle with a much younger crowd, it’s believed that they will still have plenty of former Golden contestants to find their own love match.

Two Contestants From Jenn Tran’s Season And Zoe McGrady From Grant Ellis’ Season Will Be At The Beach

Jonathan Johnson And Hakeem Moulton Will Get A Second Chance At Love

Additionally, The Bachelor host announced three other former contestants that will be given a second chance at finding the one this summer. Two men from Jenn Tran’s Season 21 of The Bachelorette are heading to the beach — Jonathan Johnson and Hakeen Moulton. However, fans already knew this when Jesse announced their casting during the season’s Men’s Tell All.

Hakeem, 30, was sent home in Week 3 by Jenn. In an interview with Us Weekly, he shared that he was “thankful” to get another opportunity in the franchise.

“I was at a loss for words. You know, [I’m] so thankful. I just want to express my gratitude to everybody who allowed me to be a part of that. But honestly, what I learned from this process [on The Bachelorette] is, you know, just show your emotions,” he said.

Jonathan, 28, placed third in Jenn’s season. During the Men Tell All special, he agreed with Jesse when he was given an invitation to the beach. He also told Us Weekly, “I honestly was shook [when they announced it tonight]. I had no expectation. Nobody warned me. I wish they would have so I didn’t just, like, freak out.”

“Because, like, in my mind, I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I would ever do TV again,’ and then Jesse’s like, ‘So, there’s this thing on the beach that you’d be great for.’ And now, I’m just coming out of that mentality of like, I don’t ever want to miss again or hold myself back.”

So, you’re sitting there with that mindset, and then somebody has this opportunity where there’s incredible women for you to meet. You’re like, ‘Well s***, OK. I guess I gotta say yes, I’ll be there.’”

Joining the two men will be The Bachelor Season 29 contestant Zoe McGrady. Zoe, 27, came in third on Grant’s season. “I was excited for the mansion as a Pisces, I think I’m more excited for the beach. So hope that I can find my love there,” she shared on After the Final Rose.
