APC group accuses Jaji of threatening party unity in Zamfara

A group under the All Progressives Congress Peace Initiatives on Friday accused a member of the Federal House of Representatives from Zamfara State, Aminu Jaji, of actions threatening party unity ahead of the 2027 elections.

Besides, the lawmaker refuted the allegation against him, saying that his loyalty to the party has never shifted.

The APC Peace Initiative Secretary-General, Alhaji Ahmed Bako, in a statement on Friday, said Jaji’s past activities and association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government in Zamfara State demonstrated his intention to destroy the peaceful coexistence among party leaders in the state.

The group further alleged that Jaji sponsored youths to lie against the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello Matawalle, and the Zamfara State party leadership, which is seen as a desperate attempt to gain power.

The APC Peace Initiatives Group praised the party leadership in the state for exhibiting maturity and decorum in dealing with Jaji’s attacks.

The group echoed earlier calls on the leadership of the APC at the national level to take decisive action against individuals who are mocking the party’s unity efforts, including those collaborating with the PDP-led government.

The statement read, “We condemn the attempted blackmail and mischief against the Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Bello

Matawalle, and other APC leaders in Zamfara State by a group hiding under the Member representing Kaura Namoda-Birnin Magaji federal constituency.

“This group worked against APC candidates in Zamfara State in 2023 due to hatred and immaturity. They prioritize selfish interests over party unity.

“Hon. Aminu Jaji’s support group promotes political intolerance and division to gain access to the party leadership in Zamfara State. His past actions and collaboration with the PDP government in Zamfara State demonstrate his intent to destroy peaceful coexistence among party leaders.

“Jaji masterminded plans to bring disrepute by encouraging rebellion after reconciliation efforts between APC leaders in Zamfara State.

His failure to penetrate the party leadership makes him jittery, leading him to initiate plans to destroy the APC in the state through factions.

“Jaji’s supporters are becoming irrational, boasting about his electoral record while ignoring that winning or losing is determined by divine will, not human actions.

“We challenge Jaji’s group to provide evidence of their commitment to the party’s progress in the region. Hiding behind President Tinubu’s 2023 campaign structure won’t make Jaji or his allies disciplined leaders.

“We commend the party leadership in Zamfara State, under Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, for their maturity and decorum in addressing Jaji’s attacks.”

Meanwhile, the lawmaker has refuted the allegation, saying he remains loyal to the party.

Jaji, who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Ecological Funds, through his media aide, Mohammed Umar, denied disrespecting leaders of the party as alleged by the group.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Rep. Jaji is a loyal and card-carrying member of the APC. At no point in time did he sponsor any attacks on my party or disrespect any elder or leader of the party in the entire six geopolitical zones of the country,” he said. “My support and loyalty to the party cannot be quantified. Some people who have lost relevance in Zamfara State and are having sleepless nights over Jaji’s growing popularity are responsible for peddling such falsehoods in order to incite the people and the party against me.”
