A former minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has opened up about her invitation to the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over N138 million fraud allegation.
Kennedy-Ohanenye while confirming her presence at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday said she was invited to clarify some financial expenditures during her tenure in the ministry.
A minister under the administration of Bola Tinubu, Kennedy-Ohanenye was sacked during the cabinet reshuffling by the president.
A lawyer by profession, the former minister has since gone back to acting and has released her first movie months after leaving office.
Further clarifying details of her invitation by the anti-graft agency, the former minister described the EFCC as professional.
In a post made on X shortly after her release, she wrote, “I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality, and I appreciate the opportunity to address the matters that have recently been circulating in the media.”
She also assured the commission of her readiness to cooperate in its ongoing investigation.
“During my tenure, my team and I executed our duties diligently, utilizing available resources effectively, and even supplementing with personal funds, demonstrating our dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children,” the former minister said.
