After 11 iconic seasons, Bravo shared in 2024 that Season 12 would be the final season of Vanderpump Rules. The reality TV series has been a staple on Bravo, earning multiple awards and Emmy nominations. The series initially focused on the gorgeous and chaotic group of waiters and servers from Lisa Vanderpump’s (of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fame) West Hollywood bar and restaurant, SUR. Once the group grew in popularity, they moved away from SUR and found their own careers while maintaining friends.

One of the series’ biggest draws was the group’s connection. They weren’t just co-workers, they were friends, lovers, and exes. The group’s dynamic was naturally a reality show in the making. In fact, host Andy Cohen explained to Bravo (via @RealityOps) that once he saw the group’s platonic and romantic relationships with each other through a complicated chart, he knew the network had a great show in the making.

The Cast Of Vanderpump Rules Were Hooking Up Long Before Cameras Started Rolling

The original cast of Vanderpump Rules were hand-picked by production. The group was either dating each other, arguing, or on the mend. Scheana Shay was the star of Season 1, being the new girl at SUR and finding a way to become friends with the group. Unfortunately for her, Queen Bee Stassi Schroeder heard that Scheana was a part of an affair that destroyed a marriage and didn’t want her energy around her then-boyfriend (Jax Taylor) or friend group.

It took time, but the group eventually blended and epic tell-alls and secrets ensued.

Sheana Shay

When the series started, Scheana was amending her reputation after having an affair with actor Eddie Cibrian. She dated, and later married, Mike Shay, before divorcing in 2016. Scheana eventually kissed Tom Schwartz and hooked up with former cast member Brett Caprioni before marrying Brock Davies.

Katie Maloney

Katie Maloney’s relationship with Tom Schwartz was dissected throughout Vanderpump Rules. The pair dated while Katie was waitressing at SUR. While Tom helped bartend a few of Lisa Vanderpump’s events, he was never officially a part of the SUR staff. Viewers saw the highs and lows of their relationship, with the pair eventually marrying in Season 5. Things eventually took a turn for the worse, the busier they became, and they were divorced by Season 11.

Tom Sandoval

Tom Sandoval started the series dating former cast member Kristen Doute. Their toxic relationship took center stage for many seasons until they eventually broke up. Tom moved on to fellow SUR bartender, Ariana Madix, before breaking up after having a months-long affair with their friend and coworker, Rachel Leviss. The affair divided the cast, broke hearts, and is now known as “Scandoval.”

Kristen Doute

Kristen Doute was one of the more problematic cast members, according to Lisa Vanderpump. She was strong-willed, brazen, and was known to bend the truth. After her relationship with Tom Sandoval ended, she moved on to SUR’s DJ, James Kennedy. But that wasn’t before admitting she hooked up with cast member Jax Taylor. Kristen left the series in Season 8 and hooked up with TomTom manager, Max Boyens, before settling down with Luke Broderick (who wasn’t a part of the series).

Ariana Madix

Ariana Madix grabbed a spot in the spotlight after she started dating Tom Sandoval after his breakup from Kristen Doute. The two dated for nearly 10 years and owned a home together before she found out he had an affair with their friend, Rachel Leviss. Once broken up, Ariana started dating Daniel Wei, who was not a part of the series.

James Kennedy

James Kennedy may have got on the series for his chaotic relationship with Kristen Doute, but he eventually became a celebrity on his own. James and Lala Kent flirted and hooked up shortly before becoming close friends. Known for hooking up with other servers at SUR, he ultimately landed on college student, Rachel Leviss. Once the two became serious, she got a job at SUR and became a cast member. The two eventually called it quits after Rachel broke off their engagement. He later dated Ally Weber — who became a friend of the series —before breaking up in January 2025.

Lala Kent

Unlike most of the cast, Lala Kent never officially dated any of her castmates. She hooked up with James Kennedy when she first started working at SUR but the two ultimately decided they were better as friends. Lala and Ariana Madix shared an intimate level as friends when Ariana was dating Tom Sandoval before getting engaged to producer, Randall Emmett. Lala and Randall broke things off in 2021.

Season 12 Of Vanderpump Rules Has A New Cast, But Will The Series Be The Same?

After Bravo announced that Season 12 would be Vanderpump Rules’ last season, it was also shared that it would showcase a new cast. It’s confusing why the network didn’t end the series with the original cast, but a new cast working at SUR could lead to other potential spinoffs. After all, the point of the series was to showcase fresh-faced cast members working at Lisa Vanderpump’s hottest restaurant.

In February 2025, Lisa Vanderpump told US Weekly what longtime fans can expect from the new season. “When you have a restaurant, especially in Hollywood, with a revolving door of beautiful people who are all kinds of normally rather large personalities because they come to Hollywood for a reason, it’s always complicated.”

While the official cast for Season 12 hasn’t been announced as of this article’s publishing, Lisa told Bravo the cast is just as juicy as the original. She explained that the “close-knit SUR-vers who are as complicatedly involved with one another as their iconic predecessors.”
