Politicians want mini colonies for themselves, Sani condemns proposed state creation

A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central at the Nigerian Senate has condemned a proposal by members of the House of Representatives to create more states across the country.

Shehu Sani in a post on X said the proposal made by some lawmakers on Thursday, February 6, to create an additional 31 states across regions of Nigeria is comical.

He also accused the lawmakers of having plans of caving out states for their selfish interest rather than for the good of the people they have sworn to serve.

He posted, “While many states are dependent on federal allocation for their survival, the House of Representatives proposal for 31 states is ironic and comical.

“Politicians just want to cave out mini colonies for themselves,” Sani said on X.
