Duane “Keefe D” Davis received a major win in court after a judge granted his legal team’s motion to delay his trial for the 1996 murder of rapper Tupac Shakur.
Keefe D’s trial was scheduled to begin on March 2025, but after a motion was filed last week, the date has been pushed back to February 9, 2026.
“It looks like there are quite a few things that are left to be done to get this case prepared,” Judge Kierney said in response to the motion. “So that Mr. Davis can have effective assistance of counsel.”
Keefe D was arrested and charged with the late rapper’s murder. His trial was originally scheduled for June 3, 2024, but was delayed more than once. His defense team now says they have witnesses who are willing to testify that Keefe D was not in the vehicle at the time of Tupac’s murder.

Keefe D previously claimed that he was not the shooter but that he was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting and that he even handed the shooter the weapon.
He has pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations against him.
