Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has refuted claims suggesting he has any form of relationship with former BBNaija star, Nengi Rebecca Hampson.
Rumors recently circulated that Nengi had welcomed a child with the governor, who is reportedly married to as his fourth wife. The speculation gained traction after controversial blogger Gistlover hinted at the alleged affair, stating that Nengi had become the governor’s fifth wife.
Reacting to the claims, the governor’s spokesperson, Dr. Kola Oredipe, dismissed the allegations as “baseless fabrications.”
In his statement, Oredipe clarified: “Nengi Rebecca Hampson has no personal relationship with Governor Diri. Regrettably, purveyors of fake news are not happy with the governor’s rising political profile.”
He further described the rumors as a distraction, emphasizing the need to regulate social media platforms.
“While we were inaugurating a brand-new road in Yenagoa, social media e-rats were busy spreading falsehoods about the governor,” Oredipe added.
