Everything We Know About Below Deck Down Under Season 3's Wihan Du Toit

Below Deck Down Under is back with Season 3 and sees both returning crew and brand-new faces aboard the Katina. This season sees fan-favorite Captain Jason Chambers sailing around the Seychelles, an East African country with a stunning landscape.

Captain Jason will rely heavily on the new bosun Wihan du Toit, and hopefully, he’ll be more consistent than what Jason had to work with in Seasons 1 and 2. Wihan has a strong resume with years of yachting experience, but as the Season 3 trailer shows, Wihan will find himself clashing with both his exterior crew and chief stew.

Wihan du Toit will hopefully not let his exterior crew and Captain Jason Chambers down as Season 3’s bosun. In Below Deck Down Under Season 1, Jason had a tense relationship with bosun Jamie Sayed, and in Season 2, Jason ended up firing bosun Luke Jones for inappropriate behavior.

According to his Bravo bio, Wihan was born on November 6, 1993, and calls Paarl, South Africa home. Wihan was 31-years-old when he and his crew sailed around the Seychelles in 2024. His bio also notes that he is a Scorpio. According to Horoscope.net, “this sign is very competitive and tends to keep their own needs at the forefront of their minds when it comes to their careers.”

When Bravo asked Wihan what his special skills were, he answered, “Being me.” How very Scorpio of him…

Wihan’s favorite place he has chartered was The Bahamas.

Wihan does have 9 years of yachting experience, which will come in handy as the Katina is the biggest yacht in Below Deck franchise history—it has an elevator! Looking at his LinkedIn, Wihan has loads of experience on boats, as his profile states that he worked his way up in the industry “having worked through the ranks of the industry from Junior Deckhand all the way to Captain.” Wihan also obtained his Yachtmaster Coastal on Sailing Vessels.

With so much knowledge of the yachting industry, Wihan established his own business. In 2022, he founded Yacht One International, where he works with clients to provide them with the ultimate yachting experience.

What Happens To Wihan In Season 3 Of Below Deck Down Under?

So far, it’s been smooth sailing for Wihan as the premiere episode of Below Deck Down Under sees the crew meeting one another for the first time. Wihan gets acquainted with his exterior team, which consists of returning deckhand Harry Van Vliet, Johnny Arvanitis (who also has 9 years of yachting experience), and deck/stew Adair Werley.

However, Episode 1 did see Harry speaking to Wihan privately after Johnny shared that he was lead deckhand. That job title was not given out to anyone, so Wihan might have to step in to put Johnny in check.

As the charter season goes on, the Season 3 trailer does see Wihan get into a few confrontations with not only his exterior crew, but with Lara, too. In one scene, Wihan is seen yelling at Harry in his cabin. “I’m asking you very nicely, stop what you’re doing. Please, now!” He’s also seen asking Johnny “what’s going on” as the deckhand yells and punches the cabinet while screaming, “Don’t f****** talk to me!” In another scene, Wihan tells Lara, “You should shut up a little bit.”

The department heads, which consists of Lara, Wihan, and chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph, all look like they have come to blows this season. The conclusion of the trailer sees Captain Jason intervening and speaking to the three of them, stating, “I will not tolerate the heads of departments yelling at each other.”

With Wihan appearing to be clashing with more than one crew member aboard the Katina in the trailer, is he the one who Captain Jason ultimately fires?
