Accuse Pro-Wike group, Anyanwu, Ikpeazu of orchestrating suspension

The Opposition Lawmakers Coalition has called on Nigerians and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ignore the alleged suspension of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara.

In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the coalition alleged that the suspension was masterminded by former PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu; former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu; and other allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Ugochinyere dismissed the suspension as null, void, and of no effect, arguing that it violates the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and the party’s established rules.
He stressed that Senator Adolphus Wabara remains the Chairman of the PDP BoT, adding that the Pro-Wike group lacks the authority to remove him.

The statement read: “This is a desperate attempt to undermine the efforts of Senator Adolphus Wabara in finding sustainable solutions to the party’s challenges. How can anyone claim to suspend the Chairman of the Board of Trustees—a key member of the National Executive Committee? When I say that Samuel Anyanwu, Umar Damagum, and the Wike camp have lost all sense of reason, people don’t believe it.

“This so-called suspension is a figment of their imagination. The ‘APC within PDP’ agenda is dead on arrival. The National BoT Chairman cannot be suspended, as the party’s constitution expressly forbids it.

It is clear that these individuals have no regard for party unity and are determined to destroy the PDP.
Now, they have extended their political recklessness by attempting to destabilize the Board of Trustees. But I trust that BoT members, being distinguished leaders, will not fall for this charade.

“This suspension was concocted within the FCT Ministry, and as far as I’m concerned, it holds no legitimacy. Senator Adolphus Wabara remains the rightful Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, and there is absolutely nothing the Pro-Wike group can do about it.”
