Violence erupted in Osun State as members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) clashed over control of local government councils.
The situation became tense after a recent court judgment allowed the APC to take over several local government areas, leading to heated confrontations between political supporters.
Eyewitnesses reported that suspected APC loyalists stormed local government secretariats in various parts of the state, including Osogbo and Olorunda, in an attempt to assert control. This move was met with strong resistance from PDP supporters.
There are also reports of sporadic gunshots.
Meanwhile, some of the reinstated council executives have resumed at their different secretariats.
