N’Central stakeholders back Ganduje to continue as APC boss
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially contracted a private company, Tunmef Global Limited, to commence nationwide digital membership registration to have a comprehensive and up-to-date database of its members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was as the North Central APC Forum passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The agreement with the contractor was signed at the party’s secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night, with the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State; his Cross River counterpart, Bassey Otu; and the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, in attendance.
Others were members of the National Working Committee (NWC), and state chairmen of the party. Addressing the audience, Uzodimma explained that the initiative underscored the ruling party’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance its internal processes and maintain its position as a leading political force in Nigeria.
He said: “We must thank President Bola Tinubu for the wisdom of toeing this path of digital order. All over the world, no one is using analogue anymore. It is now the digital economy, digital politics, and even digital social order that we are parading globally.
“This will confirm the integrity of our membership register as a party. If we say we have 10 million people, it must be so. When we go to cast our votes, if we have one million or 500,000 persons in Lagos State, we expect that at least within our fold, 500,000 persons will vote for us because every political party is driven by ideology.”
The party called on the consultant to endeavour to run the project, for it to complete this project within record time. Uzodimma added: “We are not afraid of what the opposition will say. We must organise our party to be respected all over the world.
“APC is not a party built on a platform that is expecting no contest. There is no democracy anywhere in the world without contest. We are expecting the contest, but Nigerians will decide.”
Ganduje thanked Tinubu for endorsing the digital registration. He said the initiative was a long-conceived programme that had finally come to fruition.
RISING from a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja, yesterday, the Forum declared: “The APC leadership under Ganduje has been winning elections, including recent governorship elections in Ondo and Edo states, and also receiving defectors from other political parties daily, showing that the party has become stronger.
“No team will want to change a coach who has been recording victories and winning trophies.” The APC Forum said going by his track record, Ganduje is the right person to lead the party in the 2027 general election.
This is coming about five months after the APC Forum suspended its agitation for Ganduje’s removal and his replacement with Abdullahi Adamu from the North Central, in line with the party’s zoning arrangement which ceded the position of national chairman to the region.
Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State, emerged as APC National Chairman at the party’s national convention in March 2022, following the ceding of the position to the North Central. He resigned from the position in July 2023 without completing his tenure, and Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State in the North West, was appointed as his replacement.
