Pete Davidson stars in a brand-new campaign for fashion label Reformation in time for Valentine’s Day. The former SNL cast member was named “The official boyfriend of Reformation” in their new February campaign.

What took fans by surprise was Pete showcasing just how well his tattoo removal process was going in a series of photos. The actor has been on a journey to remove all of his tattoos that had once covered a majority of his body. In one photo, Pete is seen wearing Reformation’s men’s boxer briefs underneath tan-colored trousers. Going shirtless, all of Pete’s many tattoos on his chest and arms are completely gone.

In another photo, Pete wears the same boxer briefs with a tight white t-shirt where his legs are also ink-free. Another shot sees the comedian wearing Reformation’s “Official Boyfriend” sweatshirt.

Speaking to Variety, Pete shared that his first tattoo was one on his leg that read, “Swerve Life.” “I was 17 when I got my first tattoo. It was a tattoo I got with my buddy Ricky. It says ‘Swerve Life’ because the Big Sean song that had that– swerve in it, and we were like ‘That’s gonna last forever,” he detailed.

Pete’s new ad campaign is also accompanied by a video in which he portrays the “perfect boyfriend” while at the Reformation store in New York City.

Fans will recall that some of Pete’s tattoos included portraits of Hillary Clinton, late supreme court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and a Harry Potter movie quote on his arm. On Pete’s arms the actor had tattoos of the planets, a sinister Willy Wonka, and a kneeling firefighter who paid tribute to his late father, who died on 9/11.

Pete’s back was also once covered in different ink. Some of the most notable ones included a person wearing a hoodie and an angle on the opposite side of his back.

Pete Began The Tattoo Removal Process In 2020

The former SNL star is no longer covered in tattoos, but the process took years in the making. According to the star, the reason for removing all of his 200 tattoos was because sitting in a makeup chair to cover all of his ink took hours.

It was reportedly during a Q&A for his film The King of Staten Island in late 2020, in which Pete revealed that he was in the beginnings stages of removing all of his tattoos. Film critic Mike McGranaghan confirmed on X that Pete’s hands were no longer tattooed. “He said it takes 3-4 hours in the makeup chair to cover them, so he figured “it would be easier to get them burned off,” the critic wrote.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2021, Pete explained that he didn’t think he’d end up becoming an actor, so it was best to remove his ink for the sake of his career.

“I honestly never thought that I would get the opportunity to act and I love it a lot. You have to get there three hours earlier to cover all your tattoos, because for some reason, people in movies, they don’t have that much.”

Detailing his tattoo removal, Pete shared that “burning them off is worse than getting them,” and even advised people to really think their tattoo ideas thoroughly. “If you’re going to get tattoos, just make sure you really, really want it—and aren’t on mushrooms.”

In a more recent interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, when the host asked if the tattoo removal process was “painful,” the actor replied, “It’s horrible.” He also lifted his shirt where fans could still see light imprints of what remained of his tattoos on his arm.

“They got to burn off a layer of skin, and then it has to heal for like six to eight weeks and you can’t get into the sunlight, and the nyou gotta do it like 12 more times,” Pete said.

Pete also admitted to Jimmy that he was very spontaneous when it came to getting a tattoo— that’s how he ended up with about 200 of them. When asked by the host if he’d keep any of his ink, Pete shared, “Maybe like 2 or 3,” adding, “but I’m trying to clean slate it. Trying to be an adult.”

With Pete appearing to have removed nearly all of his tattoos, they also include the ones he had for several of his A-list ex-girlfriends.

While engaged to Ariana Grande in 2018, the couple had several matching tattoos that included the French phrase “Mille Tendresse” on the back of their necks, Pete’s late father’s FDNY badge number, and “H2GKMO” inked on their right thumbs. Pete also had a bunny-eared mask tattooed on his neck which resembled the mask Ariana wore on her Dangerous Woman album. However, he later covered the tattoo with a large black heart and a small lowercase “a.” Of course, all of these tattoos are allegedly all gone now.

When Pete was dating Kim Kardashian between October 2021 to August 2022, he got at least four tattoos dedicated to The Kardashians star. Those tattoos included her name “Kim” on his chest, “My girl is a lawyer” on his clavicle, her children’s initials “KNSCP,” and “Aladdin and Jasmine” with an infinity symbol between which was in dedication to their SNL skit.

While Pete’s tattoo removal process is to help his acting career, he also shared that he does not want to be associated with the women he dates. Pete has been known for dating several high-profiled women in Hollywood, which also included Kate Beckinsale, Kaia Gerber, and Emily Ratajkowski.
