Why Stassi Schroeder Turned Down The Valley

When Vanderpump Rules first aired in 2013, fans were introduced to Stassi Schroeder, a brutally honest, feisty, and at times, pretty vindictive employee at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant. Her infamous line, “I’m the devil and don’t you forget it,” to ex-boyfriend Jax Taylor has certainly become one of the most memorable quotes of the series.

Stassi was fired after Season 8 for an alleged racist incident, but she was later given the opportunity to come back to Bravo to star in the VPR spinoff The Valley. The show stars her former cast members, Kristen Doute, Jax Taylor, and Brittany Cartwright, along with other couples who reside in the San Fernando Valley. However, Stassi decided to turn it down.

The Valley was first announced by Bravo in early 2024, and was a spin-off of Vanderpump Rules. Fans were excited to learn that former VPR cast members Kristen Doute, Brittany Cartwright, and Jax Taylor were returning to television after they had been axed from the show after Season 8. However, these same fans were eager to know if Stassi Schroeder would also be returning, after she was also fired in 2020.

Surprisingly, Stassi, and her husband, Beau Clark, were not a part of the new series. During an appearance on Jeff Lewis’ Sirius XM show, she revealed that she was approached by the network to consider joining the show, but ultimately declined.

After Stassi told the host that it wasn’t “Bravo’s fault,” but her own, she revealed that she was asked to film a “sizzle reel”—a short promotional video for the new show.

“Yeah, so once this idea was brought up and, they were like, ‘Okay, we’re gonna film a sizzle with all the people that would be on it. Will you be on it and film the sizzle?’”

“And every fiber of my being voted no, like truly.”

When Jeff brought up if her reasons for not wanting to join the show had something to do with the cast, Stassi shared that it was “a lot of different reasons,” but that was one of them as she no longer hung out with the people on the show. It didn’t make sense to do a reality show where she wasn’t living her authentic self.

“It wouldn’t be a reflection of of what my reality really is … It’s not my group of friends.”

However, Stassi did clarify that while she is friends with some VPR cast mates like Katie Maloney, Tom Schwartz, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, and even some of the new couples on The Valley, she told the host that they weren’t “her crew.” The reality star hinted that she wouldn’t want to fake a storyline and pretend to be friends with people she wasn’t really friends with.

“I don’t want to have to go and do things that I normally wouldn’t do. I don’t want to disrupt the life that I have right now because I really like my life right now. Well, when they filmed the sizzle, I was still friends with everyone, and I still was like, ‘No,'” she said.

Why Was Stassi Fired From Vanderpump Rules?

Kristen Doute Also Got The Boot After Season 8

Stassi was fired from Vanderpump Rules after appearing in Season 8. Accoridng to Variety, both Stassi and Kristen were given the boot for racial profiling. Back in 2018, both women reported their co-star Faith Stowers, a Black woman, to the police after they alleged that she was wanted for theft. The theft was first reported in an article by the Daily Mail.

At the time, Kristen had tweeted a link to the article and wrote, “hey tweeties, doesn’t this ex #pumprules thief look familiar? someone put her on mtv & gave her a platform for press. I didn’t wanna go there but I’m going there.” Stassi had also confirmed she had called the police on her podcast.

However, it was not Faith, but a different woman. Speaking on an Instagram Live, Faith shared:

“There was this article on Daily Mail where there was an African American lady,” Stowers recalled during the chat on June 2. “It was a weird photo, so she looked very light-skinned and had these different, weird tattoos. They showcased her, and I guess this woman was robbing people. And they called the cops and said it was me. This is like, a true story. I heard this from actually Stassi during an interview.”

Stassi was ultimately dropped by her agency and her public relations firm, while Kristen was dropped by her book agency for their actions. That same time, both VPR newbies Brett Caprioni and Max Boyens, where fired after their past racist tweets were uncovered. Jax and Brittany were also let go from VPR. Both Stassi and Kristen apologized for their actions.

Holding a glass of champagne, Lisa shares, “Well hello there, I want to welcome you back to Vanderpump Villa season 2. Now, I am sitting here and I’m thinking, ‘What should I put on the menu?’ Any ideas?”

The camera then pans over to show Stassi, who states, “Lisa, obviously goat cheese balls.” (The famous menu item served at SUR resturant). Lisa replies, “Excellent idea, cheers! Welcome back, darling!”

Stassi shares two children with her husband Beau: a daughter named Hartford born in 2021, and a son named Messer, born in 2023.

Lisa’s comment section was filled with followers expressing their excitment to see Stassi back on their screen. “OMG!!! The Queen has returned.” VPR alum James Kennedy wrote, “Honestly it’s pretty iconic.” Even Chrissy Teigen, who is a huge reality TV fan chimed in. “YESSSSS!!!!” The wife of John Legend wrote.

Vanderpump Villa follows Lisa’s employees at her French estate, Chateau Rosabelle. The cast includes mixologists, housekeepers, and executives chefs all involved in their own set of drama. The second season is set to air sometime in early 2025.
