A joint operation led by men of Department of State Security (DSS) has rescued another four victims.
They were rescued following an operation carried out at the Bandits’ Den by the team.
In an interview, one of the rescued victims Malam Umar Umar Dankoli Kagarar Rima said the bandits kidnapped him alongside his 13-year-old grand daughter for 26 days.
He said the kidnappers demanded N50 million ransom and later reduced it to N10 million.
Dankoli said only N1 million was raised through contributions which was taken to the bandits by his eldest son about nine days ago.
The victim said on reaching the bandits’ den, his son was also held captive by the bandits who insisted on N10 million ransom for their release.
Dankoli said they remained in the bandits’ den until their rescue by the joint patrol team.
Also commenting, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Colonel Abdulhamid Usman (rtd), said the success being recorded by the security in tackling banditry may not be unconnected with the support to security agencies by Governor Ahmed Aliyu.
He said in the last 11 days, significant successes were being recorded in the fight against banditry in the state.
Abdulhamid appealed to people to continue to give useful information to security agencies to enable them achieve more success.
