The Tshwane police arrested 358 suspects this week, six of them for dealing drugs.
The arrests formed part of police weekly operations in the Mabopane and Loate policing precincts on January 9.
The suspects were found with 84 bags of suspected drugs and an undisclosed amount of cash.
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, one suspect was arrested for possession of scheduled drugs for sale.
Van Dyk said the operation focused on key priorities, including the removal of unlicensed firearms, the apprehension of wanted suspects, and the enforcement of liquor licence compliance.
“During the first phase of the operation, detectives apprehended 306 individuals for serious offences, including 93 for gender-based violence, 47 for assault to inflict grievous bodily harm, six for murder, three for attempted murder, four for armed robbery, and one for rape.”
He said 40 undocumented individuals were detained and are awaiting legal processes for deportation.
“During this operation, 1 054 persons and 710 vehicles were searched,” said Van Dyk.
Traffic officials issued 155 Aarto infringement notices, totalling R75 650, and six vehicles were impounded due to non-compliance with the Road Traffic Act.
The officers also inspected 18 premises and 18 liquor establishments and closed six for non-compliance with the Liquor Act while alcohol and 500 illegal cigarettes were confiscated.
Van Dyk said one illegal firearm was recovered and investigations will be conducted to determine if it was used in any crime.
