One person was killed with many others seriously injured Wednesday in Eleyele area of Ibadan when a truck fully loaded with granite lost control and rammed into a nearby market.
It was gathered that the truck reportedly lost control and crushed some of the suspected road side traders at the Eleyele Junction market leaving one of them dead on the spot
An eye witness account stressed that many of the road side traders displaying their wares and petty markets at the Eleyele bus stop, were seriously injured by the truck.
The truck loaded with granite was said to be coming from the opposite direction before losing control during which it reportedly trapped some roadside traders before heading for the nearby motor park where it struck waiting passengers, leaving many injured.
The driver of the truck was said to have escaped from the scene during the confusion created by the accident
Oyo state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, (FRSC), Mrs Rosemary Alo, confirmed the tragic incident in a telephone chat.
He said the roadside traders were previously warned about the dangers of conducting business in the area, saying, “If they had heeded these warnings, we could have potentially reduced the number of casualties,”
