The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited in expanding gas production and exports. This pledge comes as global gas demand continues to rise.

Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of NPA, received Dr. Phillip Mshelbila, CEO of NLNG, at the NPA Headquarters in Lagos.

Dr. Dantsoho assured Mshelbila of NPA’s unwavering support, acknowledging NLNG’s significant contributions to Nigeria’s economic development and export growth since its inception.

Dantsoho stated that NPA is committed to supporting the Federal Government’s increased export orientation, as mandated by the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola. He emphasized that NLNG has played a crucial role in Nigeria’s economic growth and export expansion, and NPA is eager to strengthen this partnership.

Mshelbila expressed NLNG’s appreciation for NPA’s continued support and sought increased synergy as NLNG expands its LNG production capacity to capitalize on rising global demand.

Nigeria’s achievement of a trade surplus of ₦5.81 trillion (approximately 3.7 billion USD) in the third quarter of 2024, as reported by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), was largely due to exports facilitated through the Nigerian Ports Authority.
