Concerning the 2026 gubernatorial poll in Osun State, a former governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has described as unfounded speculation of an alleged rift between him and the incumbent, Ademola Adeleke.
He attributed the rumoured rift to the handiwork of political jobbers and hangers-on, who wanted to curry favour and patronage from Adeleke and the state government.
During a live programme yesterday, Oyinlola said with his political standing, he had surpassed the level where any individual could influence his direction when it comes to making key decisions.
His words: “There’s no rift or misgiving between me and Governor Ademola Adeleke. Besides, my relationship with the Adeleke dynasty has spanned decades, considering my ties with the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, the elder brother of the current state governor.”
He added: “Except if I want to be ungrateful to God for his kindness and love for me. How can I be fighting with anybody with what Almighty God had done for me? I became an orphan when I was nine years old. With the way God had laid the path of my life, is it not appreciation that I need to be exhibiting for his kindness always?”
“I cannot have animosity towards anybody whether a governor or councillor. There’s no rift between me and Governor Ademola Adeleke. It is far from the truth. If I call Adeleke now, he will answer me. I normally go to the Government House to visit them.
“You should know that some politicians always want to create issues when there’s none. When they want to dubiously increase their rating using one’s personality, they will go to the governor with unfounded speculation.”
