Pretoria resident Annikie Rabohlale recently won the 1st Princess crown at the Mrs Earth International beauty pageant in Manila, the Philippines.
The event took place from December 2–11 at SMX Convention Centre with the finale taking place on December 9. Not only was the 25-year-old model awarded the runner-up spot but altogether bagged four of the awards up for grabs on the night.
She was up against contestants from countries such as Japan, Ukraine, India, Mexico, Vietnam, Singapore, Nigeria and others.
Rabohlale was awarded Best in Eco Tourism Video, Best in Preliminary Interview, and Best in Production Dress.
She also won the Lady of the Earth International Tourism award.
“I feel so overwhelmed and grateful to the Almighty God for the gift of life and for everything that is happening in my life. I am grateful to my loved ones, my family and friends for the support they have showered me with,” said Rabohlale.
“I am pushing nine years now in pageantry in its entirety because I am a judge, host and coach and I am a pageant title holder. Becoming the first runner-up of Lady of the Earth in International Tourism means so much.”
On November 29, she visited the Mamelodi SOS Children’s Village to donate reusable menstrual sanitary towels. On the same day, she also visited DR IM Monare Primary School in Mamelodi to plant trees with some of the learners. The trees donated to the school form part of a planting project the learners were doing.
Rabohlale recently returned home after the competition, where she intends to continue studying for her Honours in International Communication and Media Studies at Unisa.
She also intends to continue pursuing environmentally friendly solutions to modern-day problems.
“I am excited about venturing into sustainable fashion, sustainable measures to save the planet because that is actually something that intrigues me now. How to come up with new innovations, invent new precautionary measures around the sensitivity of our planet,” said Rabohlale.
