In a significant development, the Lagos State House of Assembly has appointed new principal officers, just days after the removal of Hon. Mudashiru Obasa as Speaker.
The new appointments were made during a plenary session on Friday, presided over by the newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda.
The new principal officers include Hon. Temitope Adedeji (Ifako Ijaiye 1) as Majority Leader, Hon. Sanni Babatunde (Kosofe 1) as Chief Whip, Hon. Richard Kasunmu (Ikeja 2) as Deputy Majority Leader, and Hon. David Setonji (Badagry 2) as Deputy Chief Whip.
Notably, three members, including the former Speaker, Obasa, ex-Majority Leader, Nojeem Adams, and Hon. Akinsanya Nureni, were absent from the plenary session. The new appointments mark a significant shift in the leadership of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
