Collect your Older Persons SASSA grants today

Pretoria’s older persons’ grant beneficiaries can begin collecting their January payments today, as the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has released the latest schedule.

SASSA reminds beneficiaries that gold cards remain valid beyond December 2023, and payments can be accessed at select supermarkets or directly into bank accounts.

Here are all social grant payment dates for December:

  • Older Persons Grant: Friday, January 3, 2025
  • Disability Grant: Monday, January 6,  2025
  • Child Support and Other Grants: Tuesday, January 7, 2025

SASSA beneficiaries can receive their SASSA payments from selected supermarkets, such as Pick n Pay, Boxer, USave merchants, Checkers and Shoprite, and obtain this through their SASSA card or by getting the amount directly transferred into their bank account.

Many South Africans facing financial hardships rely on the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) for vital support. SASSA offers a range of grants designed to assist vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

These grants are a key part of South Africa’s social welfare system, aimed at reducing poverty and providing essential financial relief. From emergency aid to ongoing monthly support, SASSA tailors assistance to those in greatest need, with each grant having specific eligibility requirements and financial benefits.

Whether you’re an elderly citizen, a caregiver, or someone experiencing financial difficulty, understanding these grants can help you access the support you need.
