Singer Candy Bleakz has addressed the increasing trend of relocating overseas, commonly known as “japa.”

In a recent video, she expressed her views on the difficulties associated with living abroad, urging Nigerians to deliberate thoroughly before making such a decision.

Candy Bleakz pointed out the stark realities of life in foreign countries, which include rigorous work hours, elevated living expenses, and challenging weather conditions. She stressed that the notion of “greener pastures” abroad may not always hold true.

The artist advised Nigerians who are currently thriving to reconsider the idea of relocation, cautioning that the pressures and monotony of life overseas might not justify the move.

Bleakz recommended that relocation should be contemplated only as a last option, particularly when opportunities within Nigeria are scarce.

She underscored that many individuals tend to underestimate the challenges of living abroad, such as the high cost of living, demanding job requirements, and the absence of a supportive community.

Bleakz encouraged Nigerians to recognize the advantages of residing in their homeland and to thoughtfully evaluate their choices before arriving at a decision.

She said: “Everybody is talking about Japa, japa, japa and talking about the UK, yet nobody is telling them about the price they have to pay. Did you tell them about having to work everyday from seven to six? Do you tell them about the cold, do you tell them about the bills? Or how hard it is to live.

“Do you tell them about how people don’t greet others in the UK? people don’t go anywhere unnecessarily because of tickets. One thing I have now realized about the UK is the fact that you have to work like you’re going to to die.

“I feel like it’s crazy, imagine working all your life just to pay bills. It’s just that there is peace in the country. I would advise that if you’re in Nigeria and you’re blessed and making money, don’t relocate here. It’s stressful and it’s boring. The only reason you should consider japa is if there is no hope for you in Nigeria. Even some people in UK want to go back home”
