Super Eagles star narrowly escapes death in Italy after car accident

Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru narrowly escaped a serious injury after being involved in a car accident near Bracciano, Italy, on Saturday evening, Soccernet.ng reports.

The Lazio star emerged unscathed from the incident just two days before the Biancocelesti’s 6-0 defeat to Inter Milan.

Dele-Bashiru was reportedly driving his Lamborghini in a high-traffic area when the accident occurred. According to sources, the competent authorities responded promptly, conducting thorough investigations at the scene. The vehicle sustained significant damage, but there were no injuries or lasting physical concerns for the player.

Following the accident, Dele-Bashiru contacted his Dutch teammate Noslin, who arrived to pick him up and take him home. While the authorities completed their checks late into the night, the midfielder did not require hospital treatment.

Despite the frightening ordeal, Dele-Bashiru reported for training as usual on Sunday morning under the supervision of Lazio head coach Marco Baroni.

On Monday night, he was named on the bench for Lazio’s home clash against Serie A champions Inter Milan, coming on in the 57th minute to replace Spanish winger Pedro.

The news of the accident, initially kept under wraps, gained traction on social media after being reported by Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport as per Radiosei.

While Lazio fans were relieved to hear Dele-Bashiru’s condition was not compromised, the incident undoubtedly came as a scare for the Nigerian international and his club.

Dele-Bashiru, currently on loan at Lazio from Turkish side Hatayspor, has enjoyed flashes of brilliance in recent weeks.

Lazio will closely monitor his condition in the coming days, but initial reports suggest he will make a swift return to full fitness.
