Residents around Tshwane should prepare for a possible wet welcome to the new year, as rainy weather is forecast to linger throughout the weekend and into the early days of January.
Samukelisiwe Thwala of the South African Weather Service (SAWS) said scattered showers and thundershowers were expected for the upcoming days.

“There are similar weather conditions expected for the whole of next week from December 30 to January 3.”
Thwala added that temperatures will also range from cool to warm throughout the week.
According to SAWS, the city will experience a 60% chance of scattered showers and thundershowers, with temperatures ranging from a low of 19°C to a high of 29°C.
“December 30 will bring cloudy skies with a 30% chance of rain, maintaining similar temperature ranges.”

The forecast for December 31 predicts rain showers with a 60% chance of precipitation, while January 1 will see more possible showers and thunderstorms, again with a 30% chance of rain.
“As the week progresses, January 2 and January 3 will feature partly cloudy conditions, with a consistent 30% chance of rain and temperatures ranging between 17°C and 30°C.”
