Minister flags off agric empowerment project in Plateau 

The Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, during his official visit to Plateau state weekend performed major and impactful functions including the flagging off of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Empowerment Project (REHAEPI) in Kwall, Bassa local government area and distribution of relief materials to Internally Displaced Persons in BOKKOS.

He also paid a courtesy visit on the Gbong GWOM Jos and chairman Plateau State Council of Chiefs, Da Dr.Jacob Gyang Buba (CFR).

The minister was accompanied by the Federal Commissioner National Commission for Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, Tijani Aliyu Ahmed, and other dignitaries from both the federal and state governments.

During the flag off of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Empowerment Project REHAEPI in Kwall,  he stated that the palliative offered to the IDPs is in line with the 8 point agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), in the area of Food Security, Poverty Reduction and Collaboration.

He said the agriculture project has collaboration between the NCFRMI and Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and collaboration between federal government and IDPs. 

He said the collaboration also involves, federal, state governments and host communities and individuals.

The minister added that the REHAEPI project initiated by NCFRMI is a stop- gap approach to make the IDPs relevant and self reliant in their engagements.

He told the IDPS that the federal government has good plans for them with the intention to train and equip them with skills.

“The aim of the project is to generate interest, develop skills and empower IDPs. Mr. President is aware of the challenges of IDPs and has directed the ministry to address their challenges through sustainable solutions,” he further stated.

 Her also stated that the ministry has endorsed the stop- gap approach and very soon a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be signed between the NCFRMI and the National Agricultural Land Development Agency so it can be formalised.
