Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 is widely regarded as one of the best nights of professional wrestling of the Triple H era. After a stacked match card and the return of Randy Orton, the whole arena seemingly caught on fire with the nigh-impossible return of CM Punk to WWE. It truly felt like hell had frozen over.
On 26th November 2024, WWE and fans celebrated the one-year anniversary of that magical night in Chicago. Many superstars shared their favorite memories from that night. CM Punk himself revealed a conversation that he had with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin on that night. Before his return, the Best in the World sent a photo of a production truck featuring the Rattlesnake to the Hall of Famer himself. The two made jokes and had a laugh over it.
Steve Austin messaged the Voice of the Voiceless once again after Punk made his historic return. He congratulated and complimented him for his appearance at the show. Furthermore, he was blown away simply by how much the fans popped for the return.

WWE also released a BTS video of the night, which revealed many details about Punk’s return. Another clip from this video featured the Straight Edge Superstar meeting up with Randy Orton. The Viper himself also made his return to WWE that night after being on the shelf for nearly eighteen months.
Vince Russo makes a bold prediction of CM Punk getting screwed over at Survivor Series
CM Punk returned to WWE programming on the latest episode of SmackDown. The OG Bloodline was in dire need of a fifth member for their WarGames team. Nearly everyone in the locker room had already turned them down. Paul Heyman also returned to WWE programming at that show. As always, the Wiseman proved himself to be the difference maker after finding them a partner.
While there are many theories about how this WarGames match would go down, former WWE writer Vince Russo has speculated a highly interesting outcome. Speaking on Legion of Raw, he predicted that Punk’s lurking opponent, Seth Rollins, would make an appearance at the show to cost the babyfaces and the Second City Saint himself.
Seth Rollins has antagonized nearly everyone on the babyface team, and Russo believed that he would want revenge. Furthermore, the Architect is not scheduled for any match at that show either. However, this prediction was highly criticized by fans as it would not make sense for him to help out the heels when his current rival, Bronson Reed, is on that team.
