The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives hit screens this September and it’s safe to say fans are hooked. The Hulu series is based around a group of TikTok influencers and moms who rose to social media fame prior to filming the show. Demi Engemann and her husband, Bret, feature in the all-new episodes.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives stars are based in Utah, much like the cast members of Bravo‘s The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. As it turns out, there are some links between the two reality TV show’s casts. Demi’s husband, Bret, was married to a former RHOSLC Housewife.
Meet Demi and her husband
Demi Engemann, 30, and her husband, Bret Engemann, 45, are stars of the all-new Hulu series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.
The show features a group of influencers who rose to fame with their #momtok trend.
Demi is one of the ladies, and moms, appearing in the series. She has one child from a previous relationship and is also step-mom to Bret’s two kids.
Per Decider, Bret was previously married to The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City‘s Angie Harrington.
The two share two sons. After getting divorced, Angie joined RHOSLC as a guest for seasons 1 and 2 and as a friend of the cast for season 3.
Speaking to the Salt Lake Tribune last year, Angie said the divorce put her in good stead for reality TV fame:
“I’ve learned not to care what people think… I had a very public divorce in Utah Valley. And my ex-husband was kind of the golden boy of Provo. So that prepared me for reality television.”
Demi explains how she and Bret met
Taking to TikTok last year, Demi says the couple’s relationship was shrouded in “controversy,” as she explains how she and Bret met.
She tells her followers: “My husband and I are 16 years apart, I knew him through a family friend growing up. When I was nine years old, he was married to his first wife and having babies.”
Demi explains how she knew of Bret through a family friend, but “always missed each other.”
She adds how she always had an “innocent little girl crush” on Bret but wrote him off as a “bad boy” later in life.
Bret followed Demi on Instagram when she was dating her ex-husband but “on a break.”
She explains how she was “starstruck,” because she “always had a crush on him,” adding how Bret was the “star of our hometown.”
Demi’s life continued and she went on to marry her ex-husband, but then she and Bret “connected” later once she’d divorced.
