The 2024 season has been a nightmare for Martin Truex Jr. to say the least. After a strong start to the season, the No:19 team started to plummet in July and has been in a downward spiral that has followed him to the playoffs. On Watkins Glen on Sunday, he finished at a disappointing P20 which was ironically his best result in over two months.
Martin Truex Jr. could have secured a better result if not for the late race dram he was involved in during the restarts, that was filled with multiple incidents. One of the major instigators of the late drama was 2021 Champion Kyle Larson and getting caught in the mess infuriated Truex Jr. Hence, he didn’t hesitate to call out the HMS driver.

Truex Jr. called Larson out by referencing to the recent claim, where he suggested he is more versatile driver than F1 champion Max Verstappen, which some saw claiming he is the best in the world. He admitted that it was very frustrating to get drive through at the restarts, not just at Glen but many races prior to that.

Martin Truex Jr. called the late race dram ridiculous
The JGR driver didn’t stop his criticism about the approach from some drivers during the restart there. He re-asserted that if not for the over aggressive attempts from some of the veteran racers, he could have finished better and proclaimed that this kind of racing is ridiculous.
You get green-white-checkered at the end of the race, and you know people are just going to drive through someone. We were on the wrong lane, on the short end of the stick as usual. We were in a decent spot there with our Reser’s Camry, and you go through the esses, and they just plow through you and put you in the marbles. This racing is just ridiculous.Martin Truex Jr. said.
The comments from Martin Truex Jr. stems from the overall frustrating weekends he has been having in NASCAR and things are going only getting worse. It will be interesting to see how he will perform in the last race of the round as he needs to secure at least a top 5 finish to secure a spot in the R-12.
