New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge recently opened up about Saturday’s incident which involved a series of back-and-forth revenge strings carrying onto the latest 5-2 win against Boston Red Sox. Not to mention, it was a drama-filled series between the two archnemesis.
The whole fiasco started on Saturday’s game when Gerrit Cole decided to intentionally walk Rafael Devers in the team’s 1-7 loss. The walk-off fueled the Red Sox to score further runs, and later, pitcher Brayan Bello decided to take a shot at Judge.
Whether the throw was intentional or not was not revealed, and it missed Judge, going behind his legs. The Yankees captain brushed off any speculation of it being intentional and noted that it’s just part of the game.

However, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that they had taken their shot at the Yanks, and now it’s time to move on. Apparently, throwing the fastball at Aaron Judge was part of the plan, not about hitting him.
Regardless, Judge took the opportunity to blast off his 53rd homer of the season, in a 445-ft style. He even carried his bat to first base to lengthen his celebration. When asked if carrying his bat had any significant meaning, the veteran smiled, “I thought I did that every time. No?”
Aaron Boone on Red Sox’s revenge game strategy
NY Yankees manager Aaron Boone discussed the incident regarding Aaron Judge and Brayan Bello on Sunday. He said that although it’s not known whether the throw was intentional or not, it’s not how things unfold in MLB.

If Alex Cora did plan it out, it was a move that should be judged by the league and not something Boone personally would like to delve into. Usually, a manager or the team does not outland reveal their intent behind such actions, but Cora seemed to have taken a different route as he mentioned his pitcher took a “chance” at Judge.

After the game, Cora revealed he had a “professional” talk with Aaron Judge, and the latter also didn’t reveal much information regarding their discussion. He just noted that it was a “good convo.”
