The Italian GP was extremely exciting and interesting due to multiple scenarios. Charles Leclerc‘s sublime drive to score the race win in front of Ferrari’s home crowd was one of the stand-out spectacles. Additionally, George Russell‘s drive around the circuit was full of hitches. The Briton recalled the incident on track with Sergio Perez, which almost made him airborne at the Monza circuit.
George Russell had a decent start to the Italian GP after scoring a P3 grid slot for the race. However, the Briton got into a collision into turn 1 and lost multiple places. As a result, he was fighting with Sergio Perez in the latter order of the grid. During the race, at turn 1, Russell and Perez almost collided with each other.
Russell believed that the incident wasn’t to be termed as ‘fun’ due to multiple reasons. The Briton recalled that he thought he would go airborne when he was squeezed at over 340 km/h by the Mexican driver. However, the 26-year-old labeled the entire race as ‘hard racing’ and was glad to gain one position in the pecking order.

George Russell claims ‘half a centimeter’ difference would’ve been a different story
George Russell was unhappy with Sergio Perez’s antics at the Italian GP. Despite the close call, the former claimed that the two didn’t collide and that was the end of the story. However, the 26-year-old believed that even half a centimeter would’ve made all the difference and caused a serious incident.
There's nothing to say. We didn't crash at the end of the day, and I got past him, but half a centimeter more and it could have been a different story.George Russell added
Mercedes’ current form has seen massive improvements as Lewis Hamilton moved up the pecking order as well. The team has seemingly gained control of their position in the constructors’ championship. Hence, the coming few races will witness the German carmaker trying to make inroads in the ongoing fierce battle between the top three teams.
