Eminem has once again stirred up controversy, taking aim at Diddy in the latest version of his track “Fuel” on the Shady Edition of his album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). Released on September 13, the remix features Westside Boogie and Grip and delves into the long-standing speculation surrounding Diddy’s alleged involvement in the murders of Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G.
In his lyrics, Eminem questions Diddy’s role in the high-profile killings, implying a connection between the two murders that have haunted the hip-hop world for decades. “So who’ll be picked next, whose name gonna be next up?/Notorious B.I.G.’s death was the domino effect of Tupac’s murder,” Eminem raps. He further intensifies the accusations with the lines, “Like facial tissue, whose clock should I clean next? Puff’s?/’Til he’s in police handcuffs, guilty, will he step up?/Like gee, never turned himself in, who knows all the murders there’ll have been?!?”
This isn’t the first time Eminem has taken a shot at Diddy through “Fuel.” The original version of the song, which was released in July and featured rapper JID, also contained pointed lyrics aimed at the music mogul. In that track, Eminem raps, “R-I-P, rest in peace, Biggie/And ’Pac, both of y’all should be living/Yup, but I ain’t tryna beef with him ’cause he might put a hit on me like Keefe D, get him.”
The mention of Keefe D is significant, as Duane “Keefe D” Davis has been a controversial figure in the investigation of Tupac Shakur’s murder. In June, news surfaced that Keefe D, who was charged with Tupac’s murder, had previously gone undercover for the police, allegedly attempting to implicate Diddy. Keefe D had claimed that Diddy offered him $1 million to kill Tupac, though Diddy has never been formally charged in connection to the murders of either Tupac or Biggie.
The murders of Tupac Shakur in 1996 and The Notorious B.I.G. in 1997 remain two of the most infamous unsolved cases in hip-hop history. Over the years, numerous conspiracy theories have emerged, with Diddy’s name frequently mentioned due to his prominence in the industry and his ties to both rappers. However, no concrete evidence has ever surfaced to substantiate these claims.
Eminem’s lyrics appear to revive these old suspicions, directly implicating Diddy and reigniting the debate over what really happened to the two iconic rappers. Diddy, who has been embroiled in numerous legal battles lately—reportedly facing 10 lawsuits in the past 11 months for allegations of verbal, physical, and sexual abuse—has yet to respond to Eminem’s latest lyrical assault.
