BICD, Benue rehabilitation board collaborate to enhance international partnerships

The director general, Bureau for International Cooperation and Development (BICD), Mr. Leo-Angelo Viashima, Thursday, expressed the bureau’s commitment to fostering inter-agency collaboration to enhance the impact of international partnerships across the state.
He stated this when he received the executive secretary of the Benue State Rehabilitation Board, Mr. Alexander Mbakindev, and his team in his office in Makurdi.
Mr. Viashima noted that the visit was necessary to enhance the growing partnership between state agencies in advancing international cooperation and securing critical support for developmental initiatives in Benue State.
He acknowledged the significant role the rehabilitation board has been playing in the state’s development agenda, particularly in areas requiring specialised intervention such as mental health and disability support.
He noted that the visit by executive secretary was the first of its kind from a state government agency to the Bureau, setting a precedent for future collaborations aimed at maximizing international cooperation.
He urged the rehabilitation board to actively communicate its achievements and project needs to potential donors, ensuring that the international community recognized the Board’s contributions to social development in Benue State.
Mr. Viashima also highlighted opportunities for joint training programs and capacity building, particularly in Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), which is increasingly becoming a focal area for international development partners.
