The Below Deck franchise is quickly becoming one of the most exciting reality TV shows out there, with fans already calling cast member and chief stew Aesha Scott a household name. The New Zealand native, who has worked as the chief stew on both Below Deck Mediterranean and Below Deck Down Under, is known for her bubbly and very friendly personality. However, when it’s time to work, which includes keeping yacht guests happy around the clock, serving drinks, cleaning rooms, and doing the dreaded laundry, she’s a don’t mess with kind of woman.
Aesha is very good at her job, especially when it comes to knowing when to be a friend and when to be a boss. Having worked on multiple seasons of Below Deck Med and Down Under, she has met hundreds of guests. However, not every charter guest has been pleasant, and interestingly, Aesha has a specific yacht guest she isn’t very fond of.
Aesha Scott Dreads A Certain Type Of Charter Guest
Aesha Scott is a beloved cast member of the Below Deck franchise. She was first seen joining chief stew Hannah Ferrier’s team as a 2nd stewardess in Season 4 of Below Deck Med. She then joined the crew for Season 5 in the same role after Hannah was fired. In Season 9, she was made chief stewardess. However, between being 2nd stew and chief stew in the Med, Aesha worked as a chief stewardess on both seasons of Below Deck Down Under.
Fans can’t get enough of Aesha’s warm, bubbly, and even quirky personality. She is there for her crew when times get tough, but she also doesn’t put up with BS either. That also goes for rude and disrespectful charter guests. In fact, in an interview with Forbes, Aesha revealed what kind of charter guests she isn’t a big fan of.
Although Aesha makes sure to provide every guest with a remarkable experience on a super yacht, she admits that she has a hard time working with first-time charter guests.
“The groups that I hate are on a yacht for the first time and they’re overexcited. They order the next cocktail when they’ve just started drinking that one that you’ve given them. You’re putting down like eight drinks, and the moment you put them down, they order more.”
Aesha added that her heart would break when she noticed that these guests wouldn’t even finish all their drinks, stating that it was just “wasteful.” She would find drinks “half-full of the most expensive tequila, and all these beautiful ingredients.”
Though this may sound like no big deal to some people, working with luxury ingredients that cost a fortune is a pretty big deal aboard a multimillion-dollar yacht.
Aesha And Captain Sandy Dealt With Rude Charter Guests In Season 9
On Season 9 of Below Deck Mediterranean, viewers watched Aesha lay down the law when things got sticky between two of her stewardesses who found themselves in an unfavorable love triangle that caused tension during work. But, she also had to deal with rude guests aboard the Mustique. In fact, it got so bad that Captain Sandy Yawn had to step in.
In episode 11, head charter guest Mahisha and her guests were downright disrespectful and obnoxious to the crew on board. From the very beginning, the guests complained about walking up and down the stairs, the cutlery, and wanting the furniture rearranged because they were an “eye sore.” Aesha brought up their behavior to Captain Sandy, who confronted the ungrateful guests.
“I had a client who spent a million euros on a charter, they were so rude to my crew. I pulled the primary in and I said, ‘I’ll cancel your charter tomorrow if you treat my staff like that again.’ They turned it around like that, because I called the owner and he goes, I don’t need the money. End the charter.'”
While speaking with OG Below Deck chief stew Kate Chastain for Bravo’s Below Deck Med After Show, Aesha looked back at how brilliantly she handled herself while dealing with the rude guests on the Season 9 charter. In one particular scene, Aesha is confronted by a guest who believes she knows her cutlery better than the chief stew, even going as far as mocking Aesha. After telling Aesha that she was given a butter knife, and not a fish knife, Aesha assures her she’s totally wrong.
Commenting on how she handled that moment, Aesha proudly stated, “Oh, f*** yeah, Aesha. Go, girl. Yeah, and so, I got to like, school her and tell her it was a fish knife.” This was the first time I actually stood my ground a bit, and it felt really good.”
Aesha added, “I think what made it so satisfying was how smug she was and then the look on her face when I got to witness and shot her down.”
Circling back to her Forbes interview, despite having one or two bad apples during a charter season, Aesha is proud of her job and takes it very seriously. Viewers even saw it on Season 9, when Captain Sandy noticed that she never sits down, is always on the go, and would stay up for hours just to make sure the guests were happy.
“I enjoy being in control of the guest experience because I take my work so seriously. These guests are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to be on board.”
No matter what Aesha is facing while being a chief stew, whether it’s excited first-time charter guests or impolite ones, she certainly knows how to handle the situation. Here’s hoping she comes back for future Below Deck seasons.
